Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua) in Autumn Colors

These leaves are growing from a tall and still-healthy Sweetgum that fell over the creek during a hurricane-related windstorm.

The Nest is More Crowded Than I Thought

It looks like there are three juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Herons in the nest, not two as I had originally thought. The nest looks about 75 feet above the ground; I took this picture through my binoculars from across the creek.
